Abstract
The article is devoted to the memory of an outstanding cardiac surgeon, persevering groundbreaker and teacher who left a huge legacy – Adib Domingos Jatene. Over the course of his clinical and scientific activities doctor Jatene saved more than 20 000 patients, published 800 scientific works. For the invaluable contribution to the development of cardiac surgery, his disciples and colleagues throughout the world call Adib Jatene “the patriarch of congenital heart disease surgery”.
