Abstract

The paper looks at exoprosthetic repair of ascending aorta in patients with ascending aortic aneurysm, while comparing it to a conventional procedure of aortic replacement (De Bakey procedure). From 2012 to 2014 27 operations were performed. The patients were divided into two groups depending on the type of surgery: Group 1 – exoprosthetic repair, Group 2 – conventional ascending aortic replacement. Intraoperative data and the immediate postoperative data were analyzed. The cardiopulmonary bypass time, occlusion time and hemorrhage when using exoprosthetic technique turned out to be significantly better than those observed in the conventional procedure. The mean follow-up was 13.5±5.9 months. All patients in Group 1 underwent multislice CT-scanning, which confirmed the stable outcome.
